Senator McIlhinney to Participate in Capitol All-Stars Charity Game

Senator Chuck McIlhinney (R-10) will join more than 60 state legislators in swinging for the fences during the Capitol All-Stars softball game in an effort to strike out hunger.

The event, scheduled for September 23 at 5:30 p.m. in Harrisburg’s Metro Bank Park, will benefit Feeding Pennsylvania and Hunger Free PA. Proceeds from last year’s game raised more than $62,000 for anti-hunger programs statewide and helped to provide more than 378,000 meals to individuals and families in need.

“Eliminating the pervasive effects of hunger is a bipartisan priority shared by lawmakers from every region of the state,” McIlhinney said. “Although the media and the public often focus on the issues that divide us, this is one opportunity for legislators from both political parties to form a united front in the stand against hunger.”

The game will be broadcasted on PCN. Spectators are encouraged to make a donation of at least $5 or bring a donation of five non-perishable food items. The event will also feature auction items, raffles, specially priced concession items and more.

Legislators will be divided into two teams based on the location of their district. McIlhinney predicted a convincing win for the East All-Star team after the team suffered a disappointing 8-1 loss to the West last year.
