Sen. McIlhinney Invites Students to Apply for PA Military College Legislative Scholarship

Sen. Chuck McIlhinney (R-10) is inviting local students to apply for a special legislative scholarship to attend Valley Forge Military Academy and College.

As part of the Pennsylvania Legislative Appointing Initiative, each state legislator may select one student from his or her district to be designated a Commonwealth Scholar, which includes guaranteed admission and a partial scholarship of at least $12,000 at Valley Forge Military Academy and College.

“Valley Forge Military College has a long history of preparing students for the rigors of effective leadership, not only in the military, but in all walks of life,” McIlhinney said. “This legislative scholarship will help one local student follow in the footsteps of some of the college’s distinguished alumni.”

A student awarded the Legislative Appointment Initiative Scholarship may receive the award for up to two years. An applicant must be a Pennsylvania resident and have a cumulative high school GPA of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale, as well as either a combined verbal and math SAT score of 1000 or an ACT score of 20. Applicants with a higher GPA score may qualify for a higher annual award.

Students may apply during the fall of their senior year. The application deadline is February 15, 2015.

Applications are available at McIlhinney’s district offices. The Doylestown office is located at 22 South Main Street, Suite 220. The Morrisville office is located at 56 East Bridge Street, Suite 1.
